What Size Rims Are Best For 2001 Chevy Impala?

I plan on getting new rims and tires for my 2001 Impala in a few weeks, and I’m wondering what size rims I can get without having modifications. I’ve been told that 20″ can cause rubbing, but would 17″ be okay? I’ve also heard that the bigger the rim, the rougher the ride. So I’m thinking 17″ would be my best choice..? Thanks :)

At The Manufacturing Plant How Are Chrome Rims?

How are chrome rims made? Well I would assume there is more then one way. The way that I have seen in most shops is by some sort of CNC, CAD/CAM machine. Both are very similar. CNC machines work mostly by numbers and a user programs in numbers, and then a robotic arm, cutting tool cuts a part to a certain shape. The CAM machines are mostly what I see making rims today. The design is drawn up on a computer, and then the machine cuts out the rim by using the dimensions programed into the drawing on the computer. The programs used to make this are normally called CAD, or computer aided design, and it is normally called CAM when used in conjunction with a machine to make a part. It works the same way with a robotic arm cutting the piece out of a die(pre-made rim that was formed with a mold). After the rim is cut out, then if it has not already been chromed, there is a few steps to this process. It is normally done by a dipping process and I believe layers of Nichol go own the rim before the actual chrome. I have seen it done, but it has been a while, but I do remember that they had to dip the rims/parts a few times using different processes before it was actually “chromed”. There may be other ways to do it. I believe this is the most proper way manufactures do this to get a true chromed product. Also note that many products can be polished to give a chrome work, but although they do get confused a lot, polishing a metal like aluminum or stainless steel is different then chrome and side by side can be easily reveal differences. Though all metals have they’re characteristics, so many well look different when polished. When a product is actually chromed it should come out with a much greater similarity as long as the same procedures were used. Well I hope this helps…..
